Why You Have No Energy (How To Save Yourself)
We often know what it is that we really want out of life.
But for some strange unexplainable reason, we can’t bring ourselves to do anything about it.
It feels overwhelming. It’s easier to push the thoughts away and forget about it.
Like a dull blade slowly twisting in your gut. While this feeling lasts, you will never truly feel “free” and live a life that is uniquely yours.
You are in this state because your perception of yourself, your values, and what you hold most dear in life is in constant flux.
When you finish work and your colleague asks if you want to go have drinks…
A part of you wants to say no and go home to work on your passion project. Or hit the spa to relax after a heavy day.
But you say yes.
Because it’s easier and you like drinking and having fun with friends.
There’s nothing wrong with that, you tell yourself.
Problem is: the more times you do this, the more you neglect all those other things your soul is craving.
Your emotional debt starts stacking and causes further feelings of disconnect and suffering over the long term.
Not good.
This is what I did to turn things around:
In a calm and relaxed state, I listed my top 10 values.
Values like integrity, making progress, being authentic, trust, and so on…
These are the values that are important to me. And I take time to think about what each one really means to me.
Then, from one to ten, I RANK them from most important to least important.
After doing this simple exercise, I can now make better decisions and feel GOOD about them.
For me, nothing used to be more important than signing more clients and more revenue, no matter the cost.
But now that I realise I value my integrity above all else, I will no longer sign clients that I do not respect.
In the past I would sign any client, only to end up feeling frustrated and upset by working with them.
Results come easier today because I no longer waste time and energy in counter-productive areas.
Ironically, I sign more business and more revenue BECAUSE of my decision not to sign certain clients.
When you have clarity on what makes you tick…
Everything becomes easy.
So next time you get invited for work drinks, maybe you’ll decide better.
Maybe not.
Thanks for reading.
